If you are 16 or older and looking for a great summer or challenging career that is in demand, this is a wonderful place to start. The course presents information on the skills and knowlege lifeguards need in pool, lake, river, surf, and waterpark environments. The comprehensive course offers up-to-date information on how to lifeguard by anticipating and preventing problems before they occur and by taking action to help those in danger when necessary. Course covers safety skills, accident prevention, scanning, guarding techniques, emergency systems, rescue skills, first aid in aquatic environments, spinal injury management, open water dangers, legal responsibilities, pool management, and information on how to get a job as a lifeguard.
Prerequisites:
At least 16 years of age by the last day of the course schedule
Tread water with legs only for 2 minutes
Able to swim Front Crawl, Sidestroke, Breaststroke, Elementary Backstroke
Perform feet first and arm-over-arm surface dives in 10ft of water
Sprint a distance of 60 ft and dive down 10 ft to retrieve an object from the bottom
Course Completion:
Participants must pass with an 80% or higer on each section of the written test.
Participants must pass CPR Pro, First Aid, and Oxygen Admin portions of the course.
All E-Learning must be completed prior to the first day of the course. (You will have one week to complete if registered by deadline.)
100% attendance for each scheduled class day is required.
